He is so sweet and protective of M. They make the perfect couple but I was glad Steven was mentioned. It's nice to know for sure how M. I also enjoyed a little break from the filming of their ghost hunter TV show I loved that in this book we get to know a lot more about Heath. I also enjoyed a little break from the filming of their ghost hunter TV show.

This mystery involved a demon killing off the members of Heath's family. They believe someone broke the urn that held the demon. The demon is now controlling that person and the demon wants revenge on every member of the Whitefeather family. This series always has some good humor and romance.

I also kept trying to figure out the "who done it" and could never figure out who broke the urn. I thought I knew but then there was twist and it was someone else. Just stop with all this pressure! Your body is like an amusement park for my fingers. I am half way through with the book at this point and I am seriously considering just putting it down. It is not holding my attention and the author keeps repeating herself and then contradicting herself. Sometimes it feels like Laurie has forgotten what she wrote 20 pages earlier.

The book starts with M. After family members start dying, M. Then she questions if the demon killed the person who raised it. She also tells everyone that she has no idea how to get rid of the demon. What really gets me is around page she has another conversation with Sam where she asks him if he has heard about the demon.

Sam then tells her that she has to research how to get rid of it. Where is Laurie's editor? Not only are their errors in plot, but that are also a ton of grammatical and typographical errors. Argh, but i don't want to waste my money, so i will be finishing it. However, I will not be picking up the next in the series unless the second half of this book is absolutely amazing. It gets better in the second half, but still not enough for me to pick up the next book in the series. I suppose I could have waited until the full moon was over before I started reading but Besides, we all enjoy a good shiver now and again, except maybe poor Gilly right?

My only gripe and I wouldn't even call it a gripe, really LOL the Gillster will probably attract a demon in disguise or something equally scary! Oh, and I'm not picky - it can be an Abby book or an M. Dec 09, Angela rated it it was ok Shelves: He's just a character, so I don't feel bad for saying this: Gilley needs to die.

Or at least quit whining so much. He's the worst thing about this series ignoring M. J's occasional too stupid to live moments , and if he was either gone or toned down some, I would like the series. He's not even worth it half the time. Yes, in this book he was somewat helpful, hacking and searching, but it's the most helpful he's been the entire series. Eithher he's eating and getting off when somebody points out t He's just a character, so I don't feel bad for saying this: Eithher he's eating and getting off when somebody points out to him he's gained weight, he's whining and moaning about the ghosts, or he's acting like a five year old when anybody does anything he remotely disagrees with.

I couldn't have somebody like him in my life, not for long, and I really, really hope the next book does what it hinted at, and puts him in mortal peril. Heath is okay, M. Dec 12, Karen rated it really liked it Shelves: Oh the parrot was in this one..

Ghoul Interrupted : A Ghost Hunter Mystery

Gotta love that part.. Victoria Laurie really knows how to throw some one off that is for sure. I am truly enjoying this series though and can't wait to read the next one. Well I am enjoying the stories and I like the pacing of clues and overall pacing. Oddly, I am not really that fond of the two main characters.

I often find them to be rude and actually mean to each other as well as to outsiders, but unless they really put me off I will still read the series. Any book that honestly presents clues to follow and I can't figure out the whole thing before finishing chapter 3, is fun to read. There is one thing that really bugs me though. By book 6 one would think the Well I am enjoying the stories and I like the pacing of clues and overall pacing. By book 6 one would think the characters would have figured out they can drill a hole through the spike, before being magnetized, and slip in an elastic loop or velcro or something that will help them hold onto the damn things instead of dropping them all the time!

An elastic or velcro can go around upper arms or around waists or even a rope can be tied around waists. Not to be used around necks as could be used to strangle the wearer. They could sew thin cotton, deep pockets to their shirts and drop the exposed spike in there. Put them in the pockets cap down and make taking the holder off easy. Then you just remove the tube and drop it while the exposed spike and cap stays in the pocket.

There has got to be some way to better hang onto them but the characters have not even explored the possibility. Not rocket science, but really paints them as absent minded bunglers, not in a funny way. What about the times they don't even take them along because they are just going to take a quick look around. C'mon these are their protection and everyday tools of their trade. Maybe their sixth sense dulls or relplaced their common sense. Sep 16, Naomi rated it liked it. Although I do semi picture her like "baby" from dirty dancing and I'm not sure why. Lol I also didn't care for her lack of respect when it came to Tribal law. Maybe it was just me, but she seemed to think she was above it and it bothered me a lot. I did not buy the final fight scene and her battle cry The ending seemed rushed Mar 28, LetsBookAboutIt rated it liked it.

Overall, this book was enjoyable. It was more focused on Heath and his family. So it was less mysterious than I would have liked. Also, I had one hunch about the culprit and I was correct. It was just a hunch, but still. Feb 26, J rated it really liked it. Different from the other Ghost Hunter mysteries, but it's also kind of refreshing to see them in a different setting.

It's like a breather between the more serious mysteries, even if it does deal with a murder. May 01, Teri rated it it was amazing. Great story If you like ghost stories then this series is for you. I love the series and will be reading all the books. Its been a while since I read any of this series, and I still enjoyed it, but I'd forgotten how annyong Gilley is.

All right, finally read the last book on my release list from last year--although I still have a ton of other books I discovered from and earlier! Victoria Laurie's Ghoul Interrupted was fabulous! Sadly, this was the first time I was unable to read the book in day since I now work again, part time. So I win and lose I guess.

But it was still a fabulous read! I love Victoria's mysteries! They are so compelling and intriguing that I hardly ever want to put the book down!

Generally the ghosts a All right, finally read the last book on my release list from last year--although I still have a ton of other books I discovered from and earlier! Generally the ghosts are real--this isn't like Scooby-Doo and yes, I did have to make a Scooby reference when reviewing a mystery book involving ghosts and bad guys!! Of course this time, it's a demon, again! And this demon is out to get the Whitefeathers--Heath's family.

Marking him as a possible target. Yet he is compelled to return to his hometown even though he is technically an outcast amongst the tribe. At first no one wants to think that a demon may be behind the killings, but M. She knows he wouldn't lie. But trying to get anyone to listen is harder than M. So she, Heath, and Gilley decide to work on their own.

Although things start to get really dangerous, as in another member of Heath's family is killed before the funeral of his first relative even occurs! Of course there's still the threat of the human that released the demon, the human that M. Once again we have a suspenseful mystery on our hands! Lots of tense moments in which M. Luckily she's got Gilley there to help her out. And he's always there to lighten the mood as well. His quips and even his over the top fear are just too funny! Although given the situation, I can't say I would be fearless either, I might be running away screaming too!

There wasn't a whole lot of time for romance between M. Victoria's writing is really vivid! Every time the demon was coming I would get a little tense myself! There were hints, noting the changes in the scenery and M. Much like how in Jaws the music always warns the viewer that the shark is coming!

Victoria did that in her writing! In the end, I kind of figured out the who-done-it. But not the reasons behind it! Which were shocking, although there was a vague hint early on, just not enough to totally come to the right conclusion! I soooo look forward to the next mystery, What a Ghoul Wants! Luckily, her Psychic Eye Mysteries will have a release in between the waiting! Aug 14, Beth Gibson rated it really liked it. This is the first book I have read by this author. It is part of a series starring M.

This is not the first book in the series, though it doesn't seem to matter too terribly if you don't read them in order. What the author could have done though is explain the purpose of the various tools they use. Some tools are mentioned like these metal spikes and som This is the first book I have read by this author. Some tools are mentioned like these metal spikes and some magnets, but don't say what they are used for and what affect they have on the spirits. This is probably done in the first book or two, but I think if you're going to write a series you should throw in some basics for the benefit of those who don't read them in order.

That being said, I still enjoyed the story very much. I enjoy books with puzzles to solve.

I enjoyed how the "ghosts" are handled, that is, it is assumed they exist and there is never any question that the solution is going to be a supernatural one. They don't have guns and knives as their weapons. He is the computer geek. Every business has to have one. What I particularly liked about this story is that it is centered around Native American legend. Someone has let loose the evil black hawk demon that has some to kill the white hawk, represented by the Whitefeather family. The evil demon has targeted the whole family. How did the demon get loose from its resting place? How can it be captured?

Her boyfriend is Heath, who is related to this family. Is he the next target of the demon? I am under the impression this is a recurring character also, but the author has finally chosen to write a story written about the spirit guide's ancestry.

  3. Reward Yourself.
  4. Live to Ride;
  5. Practical Guide to Evidence.
  6. I think that was a clever way to write this story. I also like that this story was "ghosts" centered around Indian legend whether this is a real legend or not I don't know instead of just making up some weird creature. That would tip this story over into the fantasy realm, which doesn't interest me at all.

I also liked that though the characters take their ghost busting seriously, they don't take each other seriously and there is plenty of joking around and light-heartedness among the characters. There is little gore or sense of being scared about the supernatural. The suspense is all centered around the good guys winning. I also have another book by this author, which turns out to be the first one in the series.

I wish I had noticed that, but at least it may answer a question or two for me. In the middle of a frantic filming schedule, Sam Whitefeather contacts MJ Holliday to come to New Mexico and help save his tribe from a terrible demon. They will allow Heath and his mom to attend the funeral, but MJ and Gilley are not invited.

MJ had a warning when she felt a phantom fire hours before. Clues from each attack point to a demon fought off by Whitefeather, the warrior, years before. She must figure a way to get that information while the tribe attends the day-long funeral for two members. MJ is resourceful, so I have no worries about her. Gil is comic relief to lighten the story load. Heath is alone with his tenuous relationship to the tribe. The demon had proven that he can overcome a single man. They must all pull together with the tribe and even with the spirit of Sam Whitefeather.

I love how this trio works together. Each is a distinct personality with Heath and MJ complementing each other the best. Being mediums, they are open to others much of the time which causes others to feel trust and friendship with them. It seems so easy for them to intensify these feelings in others, but it is a result of years of hard work and active problem solving.

They also often obtain help from people close to the victims who usually want to help after what seems to be a long period of time of trouble. MJ, Heath, and Gil bring relief to many by catching the various demons and sending them packing to the lower realms. Not only did I truly enjoy this story, but I enjoy the entire Ghost Hunter series of mysteries. One might wonder how someone could enjoy a series based on the premise of person in trouble, demon attacking, people fighting back, dispensing of demon.

Wow, but is that ever open for interpretation! It may seem a simple premise, but Victoria Laurie can stand that on end and come up with new stories that all have their own flavors and locations over and over again. Our trio must go to New Mexico in less than desirable conditions. Indeed, the uncle of Health just died and MJ and Gilley accompany him as support. And now that he is her spiritual guide, MJ is herself included in the possible victims.
